Welcome to Safety and Environmental Management


 NEW!  We are undergoing a change to our webpages. With the new reorganization and transition to a UMS-wide safety department, the UMS Safety and Environmental Management web pages will now be located on the UMS MyCampus portal and can be accessed by all university employees system wide.

We’ve streamlined the pages to match the existing UMS MyCampus layout and provided a better search function to locate forms, policies, and programs by topic/keyword. We’ve also added pages dedicated to FAQs and campus SEM contacts.

The Safety & Environmental Management (SEM) Department supports the University’s mission by providing training, guidance, and consultation services to all members of the university community on matters related to safety and environmental health. SEM policies are drafted to foster a safe and healthful campus environment and to comply with various regulatory requirements.

The SEM staff works with a network of Safety Coordinators to foster an attitude of safety and environmental awareness within the university community. SEM also serves as a liaison to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, governing safety and environmental health.
